The Eshima Ohashi Bridge is an incredible bridge built over Lake Nakaumi in Japan. Its extraordinary incline has earned it the nickname “Rollercoaster Bridge” and you only have to look at it to see why.

Eshima Ohashi is the largest rigid concrete bridge in Japan and the third largest in the world. This two-lane megastructure rises above Lake Nakaumi and connects Matsue City in Shimane Prefecture with Sakaiminato City in Tottori Prefecture.

The bridge is 1.6 km long, 7 meters wide, reaches an impressive height of 44 meters and has a slope of 6.1% on one side and 5.1% on the other. It was built this way to allow the passage of large cargo ships that sail on Lake Nakaumi towards the open sea.
