Despite the tensions between the Duke and Duchess and other members of the family, the crown holder even invited the American to celebrate Christmas with them at Sandringham Palace in 2017 – before Harry and Meghan officially tied the knot. It’s important to note that Kate Middleton, William’s eldest grandson’s wife, was only asked to join them on Christmas Eve following the wedding.
According to the Queen’s inner circle, Markle was viewed by Elizabeth II as “a breath of fresh air for the monarchy.” She invited her beloved Harry to the Commonwealth Day service, which was held two months prior to their wedding, as part of her efforts to fully integrate Meghan into the royal family.
