The Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI) warns that Thai industries face heightened risks of floods and droughts from global warming. These disasters are expected to worsen in the future.
At TDRI’s annual public meeting at Samyan Mitrtown in Bangkok, researcher Noppharut Jindasombatcharoen highlighted flood risks for industrial estates in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani provinces.

To address flood risks, Noppharut recommended spreading industrial sites to safer regions, like the Central region and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), to avoid flood-prone areas.
Noppharut also warned of drought threats to the EEC, potentially affecting water availability for production.
“To promote water conservation, the EEC should increase recycled water use and gradually raise prices for untreated water,” he suggested.
