Punjab to Close Markets, Restaurants at 8PM from Today
In view of increasing smog, the Punjab government has issued a notification to close the markets in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Multan divisions at 8 pm.
According to the notification, commercial markets and outdoor activities will remain closed from November 11. According to the notification, all kinds of sports, exhibitions and events will be banned, while dining in restaurants will also be banned, religious gatherings will be exempted.
Apart from this, medical stores, petrol pumps and grocery stores will be exempted. The orders will be in force from November 11 to November 17.
It should be noted that the smog situation in Punjab is very bad, while Lahore is still on the first place among the most polluted cities in the world. Early in the morning, the air quality index reached 582. On the other hand, fog reigns in various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while Peshawar Motorway is closed for traffic.
The situation in Multan and Peshawar was also recorded badly, due to smog and fog, the motorways are closed for traffic from various places, while the administration has instructed the citizens to be careful.
A motorcycle was crushed by a tractor-trolley late at night due to fog in Chunian city of Punjab. Two women died in the incident, nine people died in traffic accidents yesterday. Liaquat Port Motorway M5 has been closed at Turanda Muhammad Panah Interchange. Motorway Police has instructed to avoid unnecessary travel, use fog lights while traveling.
Due to smog in Mianwali and its surroundings, the boundary has been reduced to 30 meters, there is smog in Farooqabad and its surroundings too. Due to smog, cold, flu and cough diseases started to spread.
M5 Motorway is closed from Rahim Yar Khan to Sukkur due to smog in Obaro. The limit is 5 to 10 meters due to National Highway smog.
According to the Motorway Police, passengers are facing difficulties due to smog, passengers should avoid unnecessary travel.
On the other hand, heavy fog and smog are prevailing in Peshawar city, the morning air quality index in Peshawar was recorded as five sono.
Peshawar Motorway has also been closed for traffic due to heavy fog. According to the Meteorological Department, morning smog and fog is expected in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Bannu and DI Khan, while Peshawar, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Butgram, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Malakand, Bajaur, Mardan, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram and Kohat are likely to receive rain with strong winds today while snowfall is also expected in the higher mountains.
